Ryan Kesler, Rocketman

Ryan Kesler is one of the most exciting players to watch in the NHL these days.. to watch Kes skate is to be exhilerated by his speed – to see him zip by defencemen like they’re stuck in quicksand is something that Canucks fans haven’t really seen since the days of the “Russian Rocket”, Pavel Bure.

Not to make comparisons – While Bure was exciting to watch (when he was healthy), he was a one-dimensional, apathetic player whose stats – while impressive and indisputable – were tainted by his obvious disdain for living and playing in Vancouver.

Kesler is by far the more rounded, grounded, likeable player – that Vigneault consistently plays Kes against the opposing teams’ first line is a testament to his skill, speed, and versatility.

Tonight’s win against Detroit included two breathtaking goals from Kesler, both of which showcased his unbelievable speed and skill

Final Score: Canucks: 4, Red Wings: 1

Kesler is a star on the rise.. and definitely the new “Rocket”!
